 As the founder and current head of Chio-Tian Folk Drums ＆ Art Troupe, Hsu Chen-jung is Taiwan’s only religious troupe leader who has a doctoral degree. With a conviction to pass down Taiwanese folk culture, Hsu has been committed to the refinement and professionalization of traditional temple processions. His greater goal is to showcase this tradition internationally and make Taiwan visible on the world stage. He is behind several well-known productions featuring traditional parade leaders and has pioneered the use of “temple fair theater” as a performance format. Under his leadership, Chio-Tian was recognized as an Outstanding Performing Group by the Taichung City Government for multiple years and has set foot on five continents, including shouldering a statue of the Third Prince (Taoist deity) through the Sahara Race in the 4 Deserts Race Series.
