 Born in 1970, Lin Cheng-hsiang is the head and lead puppeteer of Sheng Ping Puppet Troupe. Having received early influence and meticulous training from his father, Lin has become a highly-skilled puppeteer with mastery in the use of oral stunts to show the poetic beauty of the Taiwanese language. As an experienced performer and keen observer of audience reaction, Lin came to the belief that puppetry script writing should venture outside the conventional boundaries but still maintain a delicate balance between tradition and modernity. While preserving the original flavor of Taiwanese hand puppetry, Lin's puppet plays often explore storylines that break away from historical novels - a source of material typically used by most puppet troupes. Over the years, his unconventionality has drawn surprises and praises from his audience. He is particularly known for his performance of his self-written Gwoihtieehann series, which has been a fan favorite.
